Yep, we have beets in the South. They just aren't eaten as much as they are in Ukraine. :-)
Hush puppies are tasty fried balls of bread (kind of like cornbread, fried) often with jalapenos, corn, or onions mixed in the batter. They are tasty and VERY unhealthy! yum! hahahaha
